The Helimot TLV is the result of feedback from racers and other riders. Naturally, this is usually after a crash. Also, as you may know, we repair and alter various equipment for many racers. We are able to see what others have done and think of ways to do it better. This includes back protectors. One complaint riders have about back protectors is that theyre hot. Another is that theyre uncomfortable. One thing we noticed about back protectors is that most are flat across the back, so that an impact hits the spinal area and then spreads the energy out. So we set out to see how we could make a better back protector. We think weve done that. The Helimot TLV Back Protector corrects all these problems.
First, we paid attention to the most vulnerable part of the back, the spine. So we created an air channel. We use five layers of high tech, compression-dampening materials and raise the part of the protector that fits over the spine. So the energy from impact spreads out before reaching the spine.
Next we looked at comfort. An air spacer and its unique three-layer knit construction creates a built-in air chamber which provides air circulation that ventilates and cools the body. The magic of this material is the hidden layer of 100% hydrofil nylon. The moisture absorbing qualities of the hydrofil draw moisture away from the skin, keeping the rider dry, cool and comfortable. This technology is the most advanced comfort and temperature control lining system available in the world. The original Helimot TLV, the TLV-N, has been around for a few years now and has been crash tested again and again and the results have been phenomenal. These things work!
Recently, we changed the shape of the TLV so it will cover the shoulder blades. This is the TLV-W. Were still making the TLV-N because it will fit easily into most other brands of suits, while the TLV-W may not fit in all suits.
Also recently, we made a TLV for a little guy whos racing pocket bikes. Hes only about 48 pounds and his father could not find a back protector for him anywhere. This TLV is 2.5 plates and measures 17.25 long by 13 wide. The waist belt can be custom made to fit any size. So if you have a little one racing pocket bikes or dirt bikes, consider a Helimot Youth TLV to protect his little spine.
Once again, Helimot leads the way in motorcycle apparel innovation. And we do not just manufacture this stuff. We also use it. We are riders and we use what we make and sell.

- If your suit fits rather snug, order the shorter size.
